1. Zirconium oxide blocks (zirconia ceramic blocks)
Features:
- High strength: high bending strength and good wear resistance.
- Biocompatibility: non-toxic to human tissues, suitable for long-term use.
- Aesthetics: color close to natural teeth, good light transmittance.
- Chemical stability: corrosion resistance, not easy to discolor.

Applications:

2. Lithium silicate blocks (glass ceramic blocks)
Features:
- High light transmittance: excellent aesthetic performance, close to natural teeth.
- Medium strength: lower bending strength than Zirconium Blocks, but higher than traditional ceramics.
- Easy processing: can be accurately processed by CAD/CAM technology.
- Biocompatibility: suitable for oral environment.

Application:
- Anterior tooth restoration: such as veneers and crowns, especially for aesthetically pleasing areas.
- Inlays and onlays: used to repair tooth defects.

3. PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate)
Features:
- Lightweight: low density and light weight.
- Easy to process: can be formed by injection molding or cutting.

Application:
- Temporary crowns and bridges: used in the transition period before restoration.

4. PEEK (polyetheretherketone)

5. Wax blocks (dental wax)

- Wax model making: a model for casting restorations (such as crowns and bridges).
- Bite record: used to record the patient's bite relationship.
- Trial model: used for trial wearing and adjustment of restorations.
Zirconium oxide blocks and lithium silicate blocks are mainly used for permanent restorations, the former has high strength and the latter has good aesthetic properties.
PMMA and PEEK are mostly used for temporary or functional restorations, and PEEK has higher strength.
