Calcium fluoride powder
Calcium fluoride powder, chemical formula CaF₂, is a colorless crystal or white powder; sparingly soluble in water, slightly soluble in inorganic acids; reacts with hot concentrated sulfuric acid to form hydrofluoric acid. It has a density of 3.18 g/cm³, a melting point of 1402℃, a boiling point of 2497℃, and a refractive index of 1.434. It is of low toxicity and extremely insoluble in water. It is soluble in hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, and ammonium salt solutions, but insoluble in acetone.

* Advantages: Significantly improves the purity of metals and smelting efficiency, while reducing energy consumption.
Chemical Industry
* Preparation of Hydrogen Fluoride (HF): The reaction of calcium fluoride powder with concentrated sulfuric acid at high temperatures is the main method for the industrial production of hydrogen fluoride.
* CaF₂ + H₂SO₄ → CaSO₄ + 2HF
* Fluorinated Refrigerants: Used in air conditioners and refrigerators.

• Ultraviolet optical components: Calcium fluoride crystals have high transmittance across a broad spectrum from ultraviolet to infrared (~0.13μm - ~10μm), especially in the deep ultraviolet (DUV) region, making them ideal materials for manufacturing lenses, prisms, and windows.
• Lithography machine lenses: In the semiconductor manufacturing industry, the projection lens system of a 193nm ArF excimer laser lithography machine must use calcium fluoride crystal lenses because it is the only available crystal material with high transmittance and low dispersion characteristics at this wavelength.
• Lasers: Can be used as the working medium for some lasers (yttrium-doped calcium fluoride CaF₂:Yt, etc.). Ceramics and Glass Industry
* **Opacifier and Flux:** In the production of enamel, ceramics, and opaque glass, calcium fluoride powder acts as an opaque white emulsifier, giving the product an opaque white appearance. It also reduces the viscosity of the molten glass, acting as a flux and lowering the melting temperature.
