Rutile titanium dioxide is more stable and dense than anatase titanium dioxide, and has higher hardness, density, dielectric constant and refractive index, and its hiding power and coloring power are also higher. However, anatase titanium dioxide has a higher reflectivity in the short-wave part of visible light than rutile titanium dioxide, with a blue hue, lower ultraviolet absorption capacity and higher photocatalytic activity than rutile titanium dioxide. Under certain conditions, anatase titanium dioxide can be transformed into rutile titanium dioxide.
