Ytterbium fluoride is a colorless transparent cubic crystal or white powder. Ammonium chloride solutions, slightly soluble in water.

Uses of ytterbium fluoride: optical coating, fiber doping, laser crystals, single crystal raw materials, laser amplifiers, catalytic aids, etc.

Mainly used in optical fiber communication, medicine, and other fields. Fluoride optical glass is mainly composed of alkaline earth metal fluoride and rare earth fluoride. Adding ytterbium fluoride to fluoride glass can make fluoride glass have excellent near-infrared and special optical properties.

Due to its luminescence, ytterbium fluoride can be used as an optical material, mainly for fiber doping, laser crystals, single crystal materials, laser amplifiers, and the preparation and research of fluorinated glass.
